Rural tourism has long ceased to be a trend to become one of the most used options when it comes to riding holidays. Little by little, the map of Spain has been filled with small places that previously hardly counted, but that have been revealed as super interesting destinations. Now it turns out that there are so many possibilities that the tricky thing is to guess right.
How to choose between so much offer? Which place will be the most appropriate? Where will we enjoy more? If you have ever asked yourself these same questions, I can explain how I do it: this is how I always choose the ideal destination for a perfect rural getaway: answering the following five questions:
What do you want to do in your vacation days?
The holidays are to enjoy the free time we normally do not have. Therefore, we must make good use of it. Rural tourism can be what you want. The best thing to do is to think first about what we want, how we want to occupy the days, what activities we would like to do: hiking, visiting a spectacular hermitage, perhaps some scenic attraction such as a waterfall, watching birds or enjoying gastronomy ...
Many rural destinations coexist with active tourism. You have the possibility of going to look for mushrooms or to wake up your most adventurous instinct with activities of horse riding, rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, etc. If what you want is to enjoy the adrenaline, then, the best thing is to always throw towards mountain destinations.
Maybe, at other times, all you want is to disconnect, relax, sit down and read a good book, even enjoy a spa. That is possible and there are many options. For relaxed plans, it is best to look for more or less isolated destinations, better in the middle of nature, but not far from an important nucleus where you can make the purchase of what you need. For this type of escapades, the accommodation is almost more important than the attractions and places of visit of the surroundings.
Of course. They are not antonyms. On the contrary, nature and traveling hedonism complement each other perfectly. Maybe because there is no more luxury than the natural. If this is your case, then look for an accommodation that cares for the details, there are even with space for a small spa. The thermal destinations are perfect to enjoy life, and a good massage!
Another luxury is the gastronomic one. The most gourmets can sign up destinations with designation of origin and wine routes. In addition, in many of these gastronomic areas there are great restaurants that take advantage of local products to present delicious menus.
What time in the year?
The time of year in which you are going to travel is essential. If it is spring, if the snow covers the whole landscape like a mantle, if the sun will press hard or, no, if it is the rain that makes an appearance ... How the weather will not determine our choice of destination!
If you are looking at the calendar and see days of holidays, weekends and bridges for a break, you will know that trips are enjoyed equally throughout the year. Each destination has its own time: thus, winter is ideal for lovers of snow sports, while spring is perfect for bird watching in the wetlands.
Travelers who do not slow down even before the rainy season also have their ideal destination in towns such as Ainsa, in Huesca, from where to see rain behind a window or, on the contrary, there are towns in Malaga or Cádiz in which, normally, You can escape from the clouds. Also, a tip from mom: observe the weather forecasts before a storm ruins your vacation.

Search the internet for information. There are media, travel magazines, blogs and portals specialized in rural destinations. For example, our news section.
Another source of information is in social networks. There are true 'influencers' who can discover wonders that you had no idea that they existed.
